Our Art

The Art department is an exciting, vibrant and creative hub at the heart of the school. Art is taught by a specialist art teacher and all children from Reception to year 6 enjoy weekly lessons. Children develop a visual art sketchbook, learning that art is a process, not just an outcome.

Gallery trips, artist workshops and art competitions are a regular feature in the life of the department. Recent highlights include:

In 2019/20, Chepstow House exhibited in the National Gallery’s Take One Picture Exhibition (a combined project with our Science department).
Year 3 participated in Tate Britain and Steve McQueen’s ambitious collaboration project.
Entered the Mayor of London’s 4th plinth competition and the Royal Academy of Art: Young Artist Competition.
Every year, we support the amazing charitable work of the Royal College of Art: Young Art Competition.

Children’s work is celebrated throughout the school, with a revolving display of their work, brightening up our Chepstow House community.

Miss Luke

Miss Luke has a fine art background with a specialism in curation and experience working with galleries and art based charities curating and organising exhibitions in and around london. Miss Luke aims to offer all children the chance to explore and express themselves through a wide range of creative media to establish true depth and understanding of the subject through both practical and theoretical understanding.
