Fostering Excellent Outcomes in a Nurturing Environment

At Chepstow House, we are dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where each child can flourish. A sense of belonging is integral to our children’s wellbeing, and our positive, nurturing environment helps students to succeed on a personal and academic level.

Through our exceptional curriculum, extracurriculars and partnerships with local organisations, we focus on building positive relationships, encourage ambition and provide support for children who need it. We also empower students to be environmentally responsible and work towards a more sustainable future.

We are proud of our students who are ambassadors of Chepstow House, promoting friendship, support and inspiration for their peers.

PSHE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education

Our outstanding PSHE curriculum fosters the skills and qualities needed to guide students to success in the modern world. By providing a range of engaging opportunities, we aim to develop students’ wellbeing, health and relationship skills, as well as teaching them strategies to manage issues that may arise in their lives. PSHE lessons focus on exploring different attitudes, values and beliefs and covers topics like bullying and the ingredients for success. These lessons promote courage, resilience and an understanding of emotions and relationships. Our school is also part of Empathy Lab, a charitable enterprise that cultivates empathy in children by offering a number of exciting learning activities.

Buddy System

Buddy System

Our Buddy System is a core element of school life that helps develop interpersonal skills while enriching, enhancing and reinforcing learning throughout the school. Much like our House System, it is aimed at strengthening relationships between children of all age groups – a consideration that is key here at Chepstow House. Three classes are ‘buddied up’ so that students can work and learn from others who are younger and older than themselves. Buddy groups meet up for a number of reasons, with the overarching theme of promoting holistic development; providing mentoring opportunities; group reading; to celebrate each other’s achievements; to offer support with classwork; and to have fun in the playground.

Safeguarding

At Chepstow House, the safeguarding of our children is our top priority. We believe everyone has a responsibility to promote pupils’ welfare by adhering to our safeguarding policy, which can be found below. We employ trained professionals who take a child-centred approach, ensuring they are able to fulfil this responsibility effectively.

By following the safer recruitment practice, we protect students from harm and develop a safe, positive environment in which learners can reach their full potential. All interviewing staff are trained on safer recruitment to ensure that new hires, including staff and volunteers, are suitable to work with children and young people.

Our safeguarding team is comprised of the following staff members:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead: Miss Etherington (Deputy Head)
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead: Miss Whiteside (Head of Little Chepstow Nursery)
  • Deputy Safeguarding Lead: Mrs Egerton Warburton (SENDCo)
