Encouraging Responsibility

Encouraging Responsibility, Effecting Change

An integral part of our holistic approach to education is promoting social responsibility, empathy and compassion. By fostering an understanding of charity and creating community links, we empower children to become active, engaged members of society, committed to making a positive impact on the world around them.

Chepstow House has proudly supported a variety of worthy and worthwhile causes over the years. In addition to the Chepstow House Bursary Fund and Stand By Me, an international non-profit organisation, we choose to support a different local charity every year. With vital assistance from our children’s families, Friends of Chepstow House work tirelessly to help us reach our charitable goals, including through fundraising events aimed at both parents and pupils.

The Clement James Centre

Chepstow House is delighted to be partnering with The Clement James Centre to help children and young people learn, flourish and achieve their full potential.

This allows them to feel fulfilled and have the opportunities to build the future that they choose. The charity provides academic support, mentoring, intensive literacy and numeracy catch-up support and aspirational activities.

The Clement James Centre helps 7-18 year olds with a combination of:

  • After-school academic support
  • Undergraduate student and corporate mentoring
  • Specially-designed study weeks with our partner schools (FOCUS Weeks)
  • Careers workshops run by industry professionals
  • Summer Carnival Arts programme
  • One-to-one literacy and numeracy catch-up support
  • Children & Young People’s Advocacy for School Exclusions

Stand By Me

Our partnership with Stand By Me aims to rescue children across the world from terrible circumstances, and then do whatever it takes to help them thrive. Chepstow House currently supports the Open Arms project, a Stand By Me school in Kenya where 350 children (all of them orphaned, abandoned or living in extreme poverty) now benefit from daily meals, healthcare, a loving family home when needed and a life-changing education.

Recently, ten staff members from Chepstow House visited the school to offer support by sharing their knowledge and delivering clothes donated by Chepstow families, as well as to meet the children whose lives we are changing. What makes the partnership so wonderful is not only the difference that it makes but also the understanding, love and passion shown by Chepstow House learners in supporting their friends in Kenya and enabling them to have a brighter future.

The Chepstow House Bursary Fund

At Chepstow House, we are committed to fostering a strong school community as well as maintaining a high standard of academic excellence. For this reason, we have a dedicated bursary fund, which offers financial support to deserving applicants.

We warmly welcome families from diverse language, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. When pupils grow up in this dynamic environment, everyone benefits: while the recipients of financial support enjoy access to a wide variety of transformative opportunities, their presence in the classroom also enriches the experiences and perspectives of all children and families at our school.

Donations to the Chepstow House Bursary Fund are handled by the Gold Standard Charitable Trust (GSCT), which supports fund-raising efforts for all Inspired UK Schools. Funds will be designated for Chepstow House bursary students but may be utilised in a similar way at other Inspired schools when the needs of those learners are all met. Alternatively, you can choose to restrict your donation to Chepstow House students.

Initially, we plan to raise funds to support at least one additional pupil on a full bursary each year, as we work towards the establishment of a significant endowment fund.
