The Music Department offers excellent music education, taught by a specialist teacher in a well-resourced music room. Cross-curricular links are included in schemes of work where appropriate. These have been designed to inspire and challenge, whilst also providing the opportunity for pupils to explore, create and develop critical thinking skills. Children have the opportunity to experiment with their creative ideas, develop skills and techniques. They are encouraged to reflect upon and evaluate their own works and that of great musicians both historical and contemporary.

Individual music lessons are offered from year 1 with children having the option of learning piano, violin, cello, guitar, drums, singing and flute. For technical reasons we only offer music lessons for the clarinet, saxophone, and trumpet from year 3 upwards. These lessons are offered during the school day but are on a rotation to avoid children missing the same lesson week to week. At the end of each term there is an opportunity for these pupils to take part in a school performance.
