Through the use of performance the Drama department aims to instil confidence in every child, and help them to tap into their creativity and flair. Every year group takes part in their own performance, whether it’s the traditional Nativity, Oliver! based on the novel by Charles Dickens or original pieces written by Mr O’Connor. Extra-curricular clubs offered include after school drama lessons, and LAMDA for year 3 upwards. Recent performances include:

Mr O’Connor is a trained teacher with a masters focused on special educational needs. his passions for music, drama and the performing arts stems throughout his work, He brings a sense of enthusiasm and creativity to the drama department and aims to boost confidence and make learning fun.

After completing his studies at the University of Cambridge, Desmond O’Connor spent fifteen years working as a teacher and then a senior manager within the Maintained and Independent sectors. He specialised in working with children who have Special Educational Needs, and trained as an Educational Psychologist via the MSc programme at the Institute of Education, University of London.

As well as his work in the world of education, Desmond has a keen interest in music, drama and the performing arts, and he employs this in his work with children to develop creative learning solutions that boost confidence, support the development of effective strategies and make learning fun.
