The Art Department is an exciting, vibrant and creative hub at the heart of the school. Art is taught by a specialist art teacher and all children from Reception to year 8 enjoy specialist weekly lessons. All children develop a visual art sketchbook, learning that art is a process, not just an outcome.
The school offers a number of extracurricular art clubs, for both key stages, taught by internal Art teaching staff and external providers Creativityarts, https://www.creativityartworkshops.com/, for those who want to explore their creative potential further.
Gallery trips, artist workshops and art competitions are a regular feature in the life of the department. In 2019/20 Chepstow House exhibited in the National Gallery’s Take One Picture Exhibition and participated in Tate Britain and Steve McQueen’s ambitious collaboration year 3 Project, along with entries in the Mayor of London’s 4th plinth competition and the Royal Academy of Art: Young Artist Competition. Every year, Chepstow House also supports the amazing charitable work of the Royal College of Art: Young Art Competition.
Children’s work is celebrated throughout the school, with a revolving display of their work, brightening up our Chepstow House community.
