Year 6 to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre

Year 6 have started the Shakespeare unit in English, where they made fact files on William Shakespeare prior to their trip to the Globe theatre on Thursday. The students had a sneak-peak at the dress rehearsals for Romeo and Juliet which hasn’t yet opened to the public and chatted to the guide about how the theatre used to be in the 1600s. Did you know that the Globe theatre has the only thatched roof in the whole of London since the Great Fire?

Between the tour of the theatre and an exhibition (which included props like a wind machine used to make stormy sound effects), the students had a workshop on a Midsummer Night’s Dream where they looked at the fairy and human worlds in the story.
