Year 6/7 and Year 4 Hockey
This week we had two girls hockey fixtures against The Hampshire School.
On Monday, the year 6/7 children had their first fixture of the year and it was made even more exciting by the introduction of a goal keeper! Grace and Chloe G both had the opportunity during the match to try out the new kit and made some fantastic saves between them, especially by using their new ability to kick the ball away. The game started well and within the first few minutes Carla had already scored a goal for Chepstow and the game continued to progress well from here. The Hampshire School continued to try to get back on even terms but were unable to keep up with the Chepstow tackles and fast pace of the girls. The final score was 5-2 to Chepstow.
On Tuesday, the year 4 girls had their turn to play The Hampshire School. They played on two pitches and on both teams it was evident that they had upped their game from their first hockey fixture last week. The girls were focusing on dribbling the ball when in possession and then taking a little more time to search for a good pass. On both pitches this tactic played off with a 1-0 win on pitch 1 and a 5-0 win on pitch 2.

The ‘A’ team played an entertaining game, Tristan tackling brilliantly and Salar showing his speed and power in attack, he bagged 4 tries, Otto (1), Konstantin (1) and Edward (1) all contributed to a first successful game. Year 6 Rugby vs Falcons
The year 6 boys were excited going into their first fixture of the spring term, knowing that Falcons would be good, this was a great test for the students. The ‘A’ team started slowly, Jago taking a stoppage for the blow to the lip, meaning Chepstow played for 10 minutes with one less player. Falcons took full advantage of this and subsequently went 10-0 up. The ‘A’ team came into their own during the second half, Josh (1) and Jago (2) touching down to make the closing stages of the game interesting. However, Falcons pulled through and took the game 25-15. The ‘B’ team had a wake up call in their fixture, Falcons were strong and dominated the breakdowns. John tackled brilliantly and found gaps in the Falcons defensive line to exploit going forward, Declan also played some promising rugby. The score ended 65-0 to Falcons. The ‘B’ team need to learn quickly, as both teams are next in action next Monday against Notting Hill Prep.
